With the new fall season comes visible improvement from the younger Cross Country team.
“This year our team is better as a whole, and more balanced than in years past. We hope to place our runners highly as a team, and to bump the competition down some places,” senior captain Kyle Ziemer said.
“The girls team is not only determined, but enthusiastic about the season. We work hard during workouts on our times, and on our overall teamwork. We’re constantly pushing each other to go further and get better as runners”, senior captain Katie Brunell said.
The Cross Country running team bonds as they run around St. Paul Academy and Summit School’s campus and surrounding area with meaningless chatter from a handful of students, or as described by coach Robert Donnelly, “comedians.”
The team practices hard, and mentally prepares themselves for their meets with pre-meet tactics discussed by Donnelly.
“We’re trying to improve the team as a whole and keep our runners clumped together in groups during races. It will help us pace ourselves and keep each other motivated,” Ziemer said.
