Sophomore Maggie Gallagher said she would have loved to go to the Enrique Iglesias concert in mid February. “I mostly wanted to go because Pit Bull will be there” Gallagher said, “but I couldn’t because I didn’t have the money.”

Concerts are the perfect way to get a break from school and jam out with your friends and favorite artists. From Taylor Swift to New Kids on the Block, many artists have already planned tours stopping in the Twin Cities. With hundreds of concert tickets on sale now, it is the perfect time to plan a fun show with friends or family, and many students already have.

Freshman Jonah Harrison is going to see his second Taylor Swift concert next fall. “Emma Truman invited me so I thought, why not? It’s a free concert and I like her music,” he said. Juniors Liz Shaheen and Rachel Hotvedt are also going to Taylor Swift’s 1989 concert in September.

Sophomore Neeti Kulkarni has tickets to see her favorite band, One Direction, in July. She is going with her friend from soccer to celebrate her dance performance. “I’m sitting in first row club level, so the tickets were super expensive. But it’s totally worth it because at their last concert they threw water out of their water bottles at the audience, so now I’m probably in range to get sprayed by them” Kulkarni said. “I’m especially excited to see Niall because he’s my favorite and he’s super cute.”

Some other students only wish they could go to certain concerts, but they don’t have the money. Sophomore Ethan Maione said he would have bought tickets for the Stevie Wonder concert at the end of March, but didn’t think he could because of money.

Sophomore Maggie Gallagher said she would have loved to go to the Enrique Iglesias concert in mid February. “I mostly wanted to go because Pit Bull will be there” Gallagher said, “but I couldn’t because I didn’t have the money.”

Some students try to find free ways to go to concerts. Some students ask for concert tickets for their birthday from friends and family. Junior Emilee Skadron even tried to get Maroon 5 tickets over KDWB. “I sent in a text, but I wasn’t the 10th person so I didn’t win,” she said.

More popular artists that are coming to the Twin Cities soon include Sarah McLachlan, Nickleback, and Echosmith in March, The New Kids on the Block in May, The Script, Florida Georgia Line and Imagine Dragons in June, Dave Matthews and 5 Seconds of Summer in July, and Idina Menzel and Carrie Underwood in August.

The longer you wait, the more expensive tickets will become, so buy your tickets now for concerts later this year. Get them before they run out. See Ticketmaster for many upcoming concerts.
