Boys Varsity Baseball prepares for an exciting season

After a heartbreaking end to the season last year, the Varsity Boys Baseball team starts their season on Monday, Mar. 18 with high hopes for the upcoming season. The team returns as a mature team built of primarily seniors. “We return almost everyone from last year,” senior Karl Hommeyer said. “The changes are minimal.” Much of the winter was spent training in the weight room. “We’ve been lifting, and trying to use as much time in the gym as we can get,” Hommeyer said.

With the gym in poor condition due to flooding, the team plans to use the dome in Vadnais Heights as a practice space. They will practice every day during Spring Break, six days a week. The goals of the team include “Win conference, win the section, and win the state championship,” Hommeyer said. Senior Peter Wood agreed with that sentiment. “I think this was the best we’ve had in quite a long time,” he said. “I believe that we can make it to state.”
