US Announcements: Volunteering as a tour guide from 9:00-11:00 would be greatly appreciated

Lunch: Soup and Sandwich Day: Deli Sliced Meats and Cheese, Chicken and Tuna Salad, Baked Potato Bar

1. Today at Book Fest, join Josh Eidem, author and husband of SPA’s own Learning Resource Counselor, Wendy Eidem,
in the Summit Center between 11:30 and 1:15. Josh will talk about and sign copies of his book, Beyond the Fence, a story
of baseball played out on hard scrabble fields under municipal lights. While his book is a novel, Josh writes from a deep
well of personal experience in the St. Croix Valley Baseball League with the Spring Valley Hawks, so bring your questions about baseball, writing, or the River Falls Fighting Fish.

2. We are having an Open House today for prospective families interested in attending SPA in the future. The families will be touring the school from 9:00-11:00 visiting classes and clubs and talking with faculty and students. If you are a student giving a tour, please come by as soon as your class ends to head out on your tour. We really appreciate everyone’s enthusiasm for the school whether it is as a tour guide or a welcoming face in the hallways!

3. Fencing captains practices continue this week, 3:30 to 5:30 every day. Meet outside Mr. Brown’s office. Bring a water
bottle, and come dressed to work out. We will be outside some days this week. All varsity fencers are expected to attend.
Talk to Peter Driscoll, Francesco DiCaprio or Marie Siliciano if you are going to miss practice.

4. Intercultural Club members: Due to the Library classroom being used for Book Fest, this week’s meeting will be in Dr.
Hodges’ classroom (Room 231).

5. If you choose to come to Film Club during x-period today, you’ll get the opportunity to see a crazy little movie
called “Batholomew’s Song,” about a man and the music that leads him to rebel against his static existence in a futuristic,
menial world. In room 325 at 9:45.

6. The following students missed having their picture taken on Picture Day and Retake Day. Please meet a staff
photographer to take a headshot for the yearbook today, Thursday, November 8 at 9:50 near the steps going down
to the gym foyer. PATRICK COMMERS, EVAN DAHLSEIDE, LOUIE BOGOLUB, EVA PEREZ-GREENE, EMMA
RODGERSON, ANNETTE VARGAS, BILAL ASKARI. We are at a deadline for completing the class pages and really
need your help to make sure you are all included! Thanks!
