US Announcements: The Yellow Wallpaper performs today at 3:15pm sharp at O’Shaughnessy Auditorium

1. JUNIORS. Good luck on the ACT this weekend. Remember to bring photo ID, your printed admission ticket (whichalso lists your test center location)’ and an ACT approved calculator (ACT is does not permit TI-89 and TI-92). Also several sharpened #2 pencils. 2. Valentines Dance! Students, please don’t forget that ALL non-SPA guests MUST have a Guest Form on file with the Dean no later than Friday, February 8th – no exceptions, so please be sure to follow through on this detail. Also, once you leave the event, you may NOT return. Final entry for the Valentine’s dance is at 9pm – all students must arrive by this time. It’s going to be a great dance and we are looking forward to seeing everyone there! SAC

3. Juniors: On Monday during X period you will fill out a survey sharing your thoughts about the Class of 2014 and the upcoming junior retreat. We will meet in the lower library as usual. Please be sure to arrive on time and bring your laptop (all charged up or with a power cord). If you know that you will not be at school on Monday, please speak with Dr. Sachs today. Thank you!

4. Upper School Poster Projects: This is a reminder that there is some large white poster paper available in the US painting and drawing studio for academic class projects. Please ask one of the art teachers in that area to direct you to the appropriate materials. Please do not go to the third floor MS art room for your US art project supplies. 5. Film Club members! Film Club will not meet today so that you may take advantage of the opportunity to go see “Yellow Wallpaper.” We will continue with and complete “Panic au Village” at our next meeting.

6. Happy Birthday today to Nick Scott and a Happy Early Birthday to Ellen Swenson on Sunday Feb. 10 – from your friends on SCLC

7. Auditions for the US Musical, Hairspray, will be Tuesday February 19 and Thursday February 21 at 3:15pm in the BAND ROOM (note the change in locale). Please sign up outside the Choir Room if you are interested. To audition you should come prepared with one verse of a song and be prepared to do some cold readings from the script. Any questions, please see Mr. Severson or Ms. Klus.

8. AP Exam Sign-ups are due Friday, February 22 – General info in College Counseling; detailed information linked in the Veracross Portal. From your Student Veracross home page, in the upper right corner click News, then Upper School. You see a menu of pages on the left – including AP Exam Information, including subject specific advice from SPA and links to College Board. SENIORS – You’ll hear more advice on this topic in Monday’s class meeting.

9. Record Breaker February 6, 2013. Nick Cohen crushes the 3.75 X Body Weight Challenge. With a squat of 290, bench of 185 and clean of 145 at 4.03 X 154 lbs. body weight. Congratulations Nick!

10. The Yellow Wallpaper performs today at 3:15pm sharp at O’Shaughnessy Auditorium in the MSHSL One-Act Play State Tournament. Tickets are $10 and can only be purchased at the box office before the show. There is one show after SPA’s at 4pm and it would great for anyone coming to stay for the second show and then be there for the awards ceremony to support our SPA performers. We hope to see you all there! Remember to get there early and please be respectful and quiet in the lobby as to not disrupt the performance that is currently performing.
