 Bukingoltss speech revolved around the idea of victimization and self help. We trap people in their tragedy, and maybe we’re starting to move past the whole blaming thing but we give power to those who have hurt them when we reduce them to the word ‘victim’ because in doing so, we take away their power to define themselves.   But that horrible period in my life that labels me as a victim is not who I am. It does not define me. I am the girl who trips over air, is constantly shushed in the library, and who once screamed so loud in the lunchroom that everyone fell silent and just looked at me, the weird loud person, Bukingolts said.
