The Rubicon
The system of lock and dams on the Mississippi River were mostly constructed as a part of former President Franklin Roosevelt’ New Deal program. The locks and dams, specifically lock and dam #1 pictured, was built to control flooding and facilitate transportation of goods. The structures completely changed how the Mississippi River flows. Biden’s plans will also completely change how the environment looks, but the exact results are unknown.
