Great moments, are born, from great opportunity. And that’s what we have here, tonight, boys. That’s what we earned here, tonight. One game. If we played ’em ten times, they might win nine. But not this game. Not tonight. Tonight, we skate with them. Tonight, we stay with them. And we shut them down because we can! Tonight, we are the greatest hockey team in the world, senior Alex Qin said in his speech.

Bukingoltss speech revolved around the idea of victimization and self help. We trap people in their tragedy, and maybe we’re starting to move past the whole blaming thing but we give power to those who have hurt them when we reduce them to the word ‘victim’ because in doing so, we take away their power to define themselves. But that horrible period in my life that labels me as a victim is not who I am. It does not define me. I am the girl who trips over air, is constantly shushed in the library, and who once screamed so loud in the lunchroom that everyone fell silent and just looked at me, the weird loud person, Bukingolts said.
