The weather doesn’t exactly match the usual spring vibe as spring break begins. With a recent snow storm rocking the Twin Cities area, the anticipated sun and heat are, in actuality, snow and sleet. Still, school-free days open up opportunities for unique snow activities.

Snowshoeing in Theodore Wirth Park

Theodore Wirth Park, located in Minneapolis, has miles on miles of mountain biking trails which convert into great snowshoeing and cross country ski trails. For just $12 a day, rent a pair of snowshoes from the Theodore Wirth chalet.

Skiing at Hyland Hills

Hyland Hills, located in Bloomington, is a ski hill that is open all week from the early hours of the morning until 9 at night. With 14 trails to choose from, Hyland offers opportunities for beginners as well as the more experienced skiers. A day pass at Hyland Hills will set you back $35.

If you are looking for a fun activity that all members of the family can enjoy, sledding is the perfect snowy pastime. Beard’s Plaisance has a large hill that is perfect for sledding when the snow has fallen. This location will be easy on the wallet because there is no charge for using the sledding hill.
