Propeller is a breath of fresh air for Guthrie audiences

Propeller came to the Guthrie prepared to wow and confuse audiences. The London-based acting troupe travels around the world, and made their way to the Twin Cities this month. This group performs Shakespeare plays with an all male cast, as it would have been performed in Elizabethan England. Shakespeare classes took a trip to the Guthrie last Wednesday and got to see Propeller perform Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare’s classic play in which a man,  Petruchio attempts to woo and subdue the bitter Katherina. The Shakespeare class will not be reading Taming, but they have been working on how to understand Shakespeare’s language, a main focus of Propeller, who strive to make Shakespeare relatable without dumbing it down.
