DIY herb gardens provide cheap, flavorful options for summer cooking

Indoor herb gardening is a great hobby for the summer. It doesn’t require too much time or effort to start and maintain. The easiest types of herbs to grow indoors in Minnesota are from the carrot and mint family, which includes basil and oregano. Other common culinary herbs include chives, borage, tarragon and cilantro. For this activity, there is no need to start from scratch. Just grab some herbs already on hand, or pick up seed packets from a garden supply store. Please visit the guide to fresh herbs for recipes and more information. Remember to water the plants once a week.
