Senior president Alex Miller and senior treasurer Aria Bryan plan service opportunities for the months of November and December. “We have weekends set up for the whole year for people serving people,” Miller said.

The Community Action student group has been planning service events for the rest of the semester.

For the last few years, the group has volunteered for Meals on Wheels at Cretin-Derham Hall High School on Thanksgiving morning. ‘’Most of us will be packing Thanksgiving meals for people who don’t have the means or access to get their own Thanksgiving dinner,” sophomore Community Action member Cait Gibbons said.

“You go at like four in the morning and they have a whole system set up where you pack crates for families of different sizes with Thanksgiving meals,” senior president Alex Miller said. Students who are 18 or older can also help drive and deliver meals to people’s houses after they are packed.

“It’s super fun, and open to everybody. We’re all really excited.” Gibbons said.

The group, which is co-lead by Miller and senior Anna Carlson, also participated in smaller service projects including donating used backpacks to raise awareness of teen homelessness in Minnesota, and collecting canned food during Halloween to donate to local food shelves. Service learning is planning other service events for the next few months. “We have weekends set up for the whole year for People Serving People,” Miller said.
